Air suspension on a 90 - has anyone done this?
Considering air suspension as my defender is too tall for my garage.

I want to retain a similar look to standard when on the road so I'm avoiding lowering springs.

Looking for an idea of cost and a recommendation on a system and installer? Also, how intrusive is the compressor and air tank likely to be?

Thanks all.

I can't say personally, but Nene Overland (who are miles away from you) have been advertising a kit in LRO recently.

Had a reply from AccuAir....

"When it comes to the air springs and brackets that are specific to your vehicle, we don't have a kit available. This doesn't mean that you won't find a kit somewhere else in the market though and we will be happy to help you with your air management needs if you are able to locate the air springs."

Not surprising I guess since it's an American company.

I spoke to the guy who advertised in lrm recently. Wanted 5-6k for a four corner kit fully fitted. He won't do a diy kit either. Waaaaay too much for what it is.

Received the following on the 3rd March from ACHSV, in response to a query generated from this thread, regarding my 90SW. Thought it would add to the conversation.

Regards

Hi Alan,

The suspension system is fully automated and electronically controlled. You can adjust ride height from the handset inside the cab. For example "car park" lowers the car to its bump stops, around 90mm drop and from the on-road "sport" setting the car will raise 50mm to "off-road" setting.

The system uses air bags made specifically for the Defender replacing the coil springs with a sensor on each corner constantly checking and adjusting ride height. The compressor fits between the chassis and gearbox on TDCI models. The system uses an auxiliary air tank mounted on the chassis to increase response time for the bags inflation.

The compressor and tank both fit well up inside the chassis area so no, no restrictions there.

Cost of the fitted system is £3957+vat
The option of auto-level for stationary vehicle levelling for camping etc, £335+vat.

We have a demonstrator available on a 110 Utility. We are based near Milton Keynes if you fancy having a go.
