Simple split charging system?
Ever since I managed to blow a hole in the back of an FFR Land Rover in Basic Training - me and vehicle electrics have never got on!

So, looking at this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371263901403?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT - how easy would it be for a thicko like me to install. It all reads as being simple. What I would like to have is a leisure battery in the back of my 90, that could be removed when not in use, and just to power an ARB fridge. So, I would like to take some kind of lead up from the passenger seat box to the leisure battery, or would the leisure battery be best installed with the standard battery in the seat box, and a fag lighter trailed out into the back to run the fridge from.

Cheers for any thoughts..... Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

its easy enough. you will want to keep the batteries together in the compartment along with the split charge relay. The reason is purely safety.

1.) You wont have high current wiring leaving the battery compartment so less chance of shorting against anything or getting yanked from underneath.
2.) The batteries themselves are contained in a metal box away from passengers.
3.) shorter runs of cable will have less resistance (but 1 and 2 are more important).

The ebay listing says 140a so should be more than big enough for a fridge.
