Monster Tuning
Hi Guys and Gals

Has anyone used Monster Tuning before ?

I have thought about Alive and BAS but to be honest they are too far away and I like to deal face to face.

I had the transfer box changed to a D2 transfer box at Mike Atkin 4x4 , who I use a lot and are very good, and they offer Monster Tuning. Has anyone got experience of Monster or a tune TD5 with a Monster Stage 2 Tune

Cheers

Tank

Personally I would only use one of the two Defender specialists mentioned. I believe both of them have local agents, worth checking with them! 2015 110 XS CSW Montalcino Red with Black Pack

Why what is wrong with Monster ? Would be good if you could expand or PM me ?

I don't have the time to travel down to York or beyond for BAS. I appreciated they can do it remote or post the ECU but would like to do it local. I stay in Fife.

Any comments would be helpful Smile

Monster are engine killers. Just shove loads of fuel in. Try a proper tuner.

The problem is where I stay means it has to be an off the shelve map as I cant get down to Alive or BAS - who seem to be the favourites.

Surely the BAS and Alive off the shelve maps will be the same as they wont be bespoke and therefore will over fuel as well ?????

Help !

You pay the money you take the chance.

In my experience i would go with what is recommended as the amount of research and testing that goes into the named dealers is very extensive.
I'm from south Wales and have traveled to York BAS as Pete has done his homework and tested what he is putting on your car.

We have local people that can give you a remap but have they just copied or bought something that won't last the distance.
There are plenty of horror stories out there.

Its your choice and your money.

All the best with what you go with Thumbs Up

Tank,

just correcting a misunderstanding in your previous posts

The way the BAS remap works, and as i understand it also the alive tune, is not a "off the shelf tune"

You actually download the original map and logged data and send it to them by mail. Based on this data a new map is created personalised to your engine data which you receive back by mail and then upload to the car.

This is the principal difference with over-fuel type box tuners which just add fuel and I've you're lucky there will be a setting screw to reduce the overfilling so don't get too much smoke Thud

With the remapping of mentioned suppliers the drawback is that the supplier has individual work for each customer and this comes at a cost. Also if you change something to the base settings e.g. reprogramming injectors or a VCV valve you'll have to ask them to redo the procedure. (which involves like 10min of your time and i had my new file in from Pete within 2 hours)

The benefits i don't have to explain.

The reason people drive over is to have a feel with the supplier and/or to put the car on the rolling road which gives the mapper feedback and the possibility to fine-tune. So I agree this is optimal but their maps stay well within the limits of what is possible so rolling road testing would be a waste to my opinion unless you want to go for "max possible"/stage x.

I never met Pete from BAS and i am a very very happy customer of his map (this is also compared to other remaps out here and despite the rolling road graphs they got with their invoices. A lot of talking and big numbers going around but reality is in many cases miles away.) and even more from his continues service and diagnostic help.

Give Pete a call would be the best advise i can give you based on my experiences. It was by far the best upgrade for our 110.

Thumbs Up
