Hello all - 2004 110 TD5 CSW
Hello all,

I have introduced myself over in the welcome section and ha e already asked a question or two! I thought I'd post a picture of mine for all to see...

Had it for about 3 years now, and it has changed a fair bit since I got it!! I shall try and keep this thread up to date with stories and updates!

For now though, a picture or three, two more recent and one the day I picked it up!

Got a little bored today and had some countersunk stainless Allen bolts spare, decided the O/S wingtop vent needed to match the fixings holding the chequer plate onto the wing... Call me OCD.

Firstly removed the chequer plate that had been previously installed by Nene before I purchased the truck (not from them). It was interesting to see that the holes had not been treated after drilling and swarf hadn't been cleaned up, therefore marking/scratching the paint and allowing oxidisation to develop. Because of this I have widened the holes out to 9mm and shall be inserting riv-nuts to hold the hardware on. All stainless of course.

Once the holes had been widened I then gave the upper wing a quick clean/polish and sealed it with smart guard from a dealership I used to work at. Then ran paint around the holes to seal from more corrosion. A job that should have been done in the first place.

As I wasn't aware I was going to have to be inserting riv-nuts to correct a mistake, I am now waiting for an eBay delivery... But did manage to widen and countersink the holes on the old wingtop cover.

I shall stick photos up of the final result once the riv-nuts have been delivered.

A fairly boring update but that's what's been happening!

Best, Doug.

Quick little project update!

With electrical gremlins with the horn and lights having done my head in recently... (Lights still playing up but thank god the horn has stopped) I needed something to take my attention away from the annoyance.

My brother bought be orange boost hoses for Christmas so I finally got around to fitting them, this got me thinking (never good... NEVER) engine bay colour schemes/tidy up.

My plan is to eventually purchase the blue silicone coolant hoses available for the TD5 from many online sources and then perhaps inter cooler, turbo, who knows.

However, a little while after fitting the hoses I did this:

This very quickly made me realise that the engine cover needed doing too... Please bare with me as I am quite a slow painter, my painting needs a lot of finishing due to runs, orange peel affect, etc.

One thing I have also done is found a way to stop the oil filler flap rattling around too (yea, I could hear it over the other rattles).

Here you can see I have drilled holes and fitted riv-nuts below the cover:

And here you see the final fit/finish of the part:

I now need to sand and prep the plastic for primer, this could take a while!!

Know it won't be to everyone's taste but you won't be seeing it very often... Oh wait... You might actually.

Best, Duggie.

And sorry! Just realised, this is the final pic of the vent on the wing.

Think it looks better than just screws!
