I'm not organising an event....though...
Hi, thanks for looking at this.
I've had an idea brewing for over a year, though the 90 build has put a time restraint on it (and pretty much everything else).
So I'm going throw this out there and see what comes back.
I frequently/occasionally take newbies out Laning, introduce them to what can be done, where to go, trail etiquette etc.
I used to do it a lot when I had my lockered up, winched up 90 and I would go out most weekends and do all the difficult trails, though they eventually got shut down (tenter hill for instance), so I sold that and I now just roll on all-terrains.

People on my Facebook will have seen my Laning pics over the past year and I always have lots of local people queuing to go out play.
So, I was thinking of 'NOT' organising an event (no fee, no official rally etc, no one can 'sue me' if stuff goes wrong....), I'm not wanting to make any money for what is basically driving along public roads.
I just want an adventure weekend, with some great scenery, great people and for everyone to have fun.

Keeping it as 'correct' and to the 'rules' as possible, it won't matter how many people want to come, as we can split people into groups, with a common start/lunch/finish point.
You won't be 'babied' though complete beginners can be put with seasoned 'laners' you will need to have your own paper maps, I'll tell you which ones to buy, I can mark out routes for you and it's then up to you if you want to put them into memory-map/gps etc. (it's not absolutely necessary, though the idea is, you'll know where you've driven, so you can go it alone in the future).
It will be a 2 day event, long days driving, with either camping or hotel accommodation. (To be decided...people can decide, as as there'll be a group start point).
Doing as many green lanes as possible, with chances of 'bush rash' or none 'bush rash' routes.

So if you have:
A desire to go out for a weekends adventure
Want to get your truck a LITTLE muddy.
A CB, (not essential, but to keep up with banter)
An understanding of grid references.
Being flexible with decisions.

This could be for you.

I've never had anyone damage anything, the worst I've seen is bush rash...though I'm planning to recce routes beforehand and cut stuff back.

The date will be in autumn/winter and I'll probably set up a 'whatsapp' group, for the finer details, to keep it a little private (to stop wannabe trolls).
I'm open to comments, ideas, bad and good.

Hi Greeni

I would be interested in finding out more.
I have 2 children a boy 4 and girl 7, would that be a problem?
What will be the location?
My defender is completely standard.

Regards

Fabio

Holy moly Steve!!!! Absolutely fantastic, I hope Sally is enjoying her pregnancy, congratulations, please pass on my regards and my best wishes, I'm sure you'll be pandering to her every need Cool

I can work around everybody, there'll be some recce days coming up, so good opportunities for folks squeeze a day in here and there.

I'm thinking of either Peak District, or Wales. Or Start in the Peaks, end up in wales (North).

Like I said, open to suggestions, though I'll have to stick around Peak District/Shropshire/North Wales, as these are the lanes I'm familiar with and I know they're none damaging.

Fabio, kids are fine...if you can keep them entertained !

I'll be looking at hotel options and I'll try and cater for everyone, there's no rules, so freestyle ideas can be kicked around.

Hi Steve,

I'd certainly be up for this, I'm not up to date with the lanes anymore but if I can be of any help planning etc let me know!

Congratulations SMB! A new born at 50, I wouldn't be sure which emoticon to use either!

Cheers
Paul
