Suspension?
Evening Guys and Girls, I want to change the springs, shocks & bushes on the old girl but I'm after some advice. Terrafirma or Pro-Comp for the shocks, I want a 2 inch lift but don't do any off road work (sorry) only interested in annoying Boy Racers and car driver and last but not least what would be the best bush kit replacement? Hope to hear your recommendations. Cheers Life is one big adventure, that's why we have the vehicle for the journey.

I've had good results from genuine parts HD springs along with OME dampers (this is what i currently have on my 110)

my old 90 was OME HD rear springs, HD factory fronts and OME dampers.

both vehicles handled a treat.

Go Terrafirma on the shocks as - very well made and help to remove body roll

A friend of mine stapped the head off one pro comp and another leaked within six months of fitting them.

On my 90 i was happy with the standard springs so just added Gwyn Lewis 1 inch spacers and dislocation cones as mine gets used on and off road. With the Terrafirmas i also removed the anti role bars without any issues on the road.

I had Koni Heavy Tracks under my Camel. They are very good and are adjustable.

I didn't change anything on my 90 yet, but when I change i will go for Koni's again. Roel

I have just changed mine from Koni's that failed overnight, to Terrafirma springs and shocks. Very happy with them. I would recomend.

I also fitted Super Pro bushes, and would only use these or original.

Cheers Guys, that's made my mind up. What about Britpart bushes? Does anyone have the 2 blanking plates that go on the OE Rubber A-bar? Life is one big adventure, that's why we have the vehicle for the journey.

I would fit Super Pro bushes, they are the best poly bushes.

Or

Fit Land Rover bushes, but these require a press to have them fitted, and I don't have one Big Cry Big Cry

If you want Super Pro bushes, Avenger 4x4 are doing them for £100 inc., when normaly they are £150-170 plus vat. (but limited amount)

This seems to be an appropriate place to post this.

I upgraded my shocks and springs to cope with all the extra weight. I went for the terrafirrma TF116 and TF117. The springs where flat dog HD medium weight springs.

The problem I have arose through some fairly standard articulation

but the flatdog springs are shorter than the OE ones. Hence 2 dislocated springs. I only noticed when the smell of burning rubber got in the cab. The springs had been rubbing against the tyres Big Cry
It also turned my rear anti roll barthrough 180 degrees.

Solution.
pack the anti rollbar mounts with spacers and use jubillee clips to hold the springs to the top mounts

This reduces the amount of articulation Evil or Very Mad

So the moral of the story is be careful what you do :thumbsup:

2005 Defender 110 Td5 XS CSW Cairns Blue
I have a 2005 Defender 110 XS and have fitte genuine Landrover anti-roll bars to the front and rear axles which has eliminated more bodyroll although the next mod will be the fitment of 18" wheels in order to get lower profile tyres than the standard Grabber TR's so as to get rid of the tyre side wall flex.

The sum total of my off roading is getting my caravan off the farm where it is stored and then towing onto a pitch Embarassed
