Thanks Thumbs Up Been looking at ITG filters lately. Is there any improvement with them or is it more of a branded but no better performance mod?

Konabikes,

Have a look at my second post on this thread:

http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic4098.html?highlight=

I have an ITG filter and without my Safari Snorkel I got a nice induction growl from the air intake at a certain rpm. I think improving airflow and the merits of speak for themselves, cooler engine, better fuel burn etc. but really it's down to personal choice. My engine I would like to think liked being able to breathe easier??? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Same here - my best is about 250/ 270 miles before the low-fuel light comes on - so maybe we need to get ours checked out? My driving is mainly round town, so not the best of course. I tend to change gear at about 2000 rpm, so not exactly busting it along...

Thoughts? Does this seem low and should it get checked out by dealer?

(Mine is a 90XS with snorkel, but no roof rack or anything being towed)

Having come from a Mazda RX8 back to my love, a new 90 XS, I am impressed with the way cars that hog the middle or outside lane doing EXACTLY 70 and who wouldn't move over when they saw the red RX8 coming in their rear view mirror NOW pull over promptly when they see my Black Defender in their mirrors.
I think it's something to do with " He'll run over me without noticing if I don't move NOW "

I average 25 - 26 mph but have only just got to 5,000miles.

I have got to 430miles on a full tank but need to fill up today. Half of that was driving round the Dales so I can't ask for better than that. Granted I do drive like a girl and change at 2000rpm Embarassed

I can get a max of about 400 miles. I usually get close to 350 before I panic and top up. I do a lot of motorway driving.

I've only ever had the low fuel light (and accompanying "boing" sound) come on once, it was after a few days of motorway driving in bad traffic, it was after doing 370 miles or so.

Must be something in the fuel up here in Yorkshire as I also regulaly get over 400 miles to the tank without thinking about the way I am driving Smile.

I generally get about 350 on a tank (needle on bottom line), it doesn't seem to matter how I drive it, even a 200+ mile journey with a 14ft canadian canoe on the roof.
How are you guys getting 400 miles?
What brand of fuel do you use, I mainly fill up at Esso with standard Diesel?

I usually fill up at 400 miles and the light comes on around 380 to 400 after filling. The best I have yet managed is 460 (light on at 440). This is on a 2007 double cab with no engine nor performance mods and running on 285/75 KL71s.

My TD5 Disco 2 does 500 miles to a tank (it's a bigger tank) and as far as I can tell the fuel consuption is exactly the same for the TD5 Disco and the Puma Defender - the difference is so slight as to be unmeasurable.

Yep, seems to be this way.

I would bet money that if we could remove the entire EGR assembly, you would see a considerable increase in fuel economy. Decat and removing middle silence box will also help.

I use Sasol 50ppm diesel and I add 200ml of 2-stroke oil with every 2nd fillup, and I do oil changes every 10Kkm.
