Gets delivered 07 December to my door in a van. Hope it won't be raining when I get it unloaded. Unfortunately Ken it doesn't come with a free watch but I did get a significant discount thrown in on a new lid and jacket and no it wasn't a pit or pith.

Not wishing to offend but there isn't a crisis big enough that would make me buy a Harley or a victory.

If you want something fast, comfortable, and have some money to burn do yourself a favour and get the new 1290 super adventure!

Maybe even make a nice custom trailer that could tow it behind the defender?!

No offence whatsoever. What age are you 'Need for Speed?' You will find undoubtedly the 'Need' diminish as time progresses and the body starts limiting your capabilities perhaps? Already may have started as you have a Defender. I'm 106!

Thanks Matt,

I am at the age whereupon if I keep this motorcycle as long as my last one I will be nearly 75 when done with it! It was my intention to sell my last and buy something else but after three months without a bike (always having had one since I was 16) I realised it was perhaps 'Last Chance Saloon' to buy another. I have always enjoyed motorcycling but with recent severe prolapsed disk issues I needed something more comfortable and less 'speed orientated.' I would like to think that by buying into the heritage as well I will possibly get to enjoy the ownership and camaraderie as much as the Defender has had and continues to offer. A myriad of extras are as readily available too which is a good thing. The help, assistance with choices and various discounts offered is also perhaps unusual, but initial impressions have been very favorable? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Turned 41 in September Crying or Very sad And yes, the need is diminishing already. Got rid of my Yamaha R1 as the bike was getting quicker than the reflexes. Still like things that are punchy. I guess that's why I've fitted a 4.6 RV8 into the 110 Cool I'd love another bike but rather than a sports bike like the R1, it would be something a little softer and comfier like the big KTM Thumbs Up

Latecomer to this thread but wouldn't the obvious choice for D2 forum members be adventure bikes such as GSA..? 😎

Nice one Ken, sincerely hope you negotiated a free watch into the bargain! Two birds one stone. BMWs are undoubtedly as mentioned one of the best engineered bikes money can buy. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I know they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I just feel the big bm looks like the forth rail bridge....even if it is undeniably brilliantly engineered...

Another vote here for KTM. I got a 990 adventure and its wicked off road. It won the Paris Dakar so many times it got banned!
