TD5 Bargain or too good to be true...
Found this on Piston Heads this morning. Looks to be an absolute bargain if it is genuine. Thoughts...

I have come across one like this before on PistonHeads. Genuine CSW (same colour and almost price in fact) and the seller had just been divorced, needed surgery and the truck had to go to free up some quick cash. He had also moved from London to Plymouth since posting the ad (ad was 3 days old).

Was told he was working out on the oil rigs near Plymouth when I asked if I could view it and his friend would organise transporting the car to my address for me to view. Sounds great but the "catch" was that I'd have to put that money into a PayPal "holding account" which wouldn't get released until I said to PayPal that I wanted to keep the car.

Eventually got through to a PayPal person and not a machine and was told that they do not offer a service like that and any motor sold via PayPal is not covered under their payment protection.

May not be a scam and could quite possibly be the biggest bargain I'll ever see but I decided not to take the risk. Shame because it's a lovely looking truck Big Cry

Looks like it was on Ebay and identified as a scam too. It was in the West Midlands then though, although the background is the same

Don't touch at all, this is a known scam method. Probably operating overseas somewhere. I nearly got pinged with a very similar story a few years ago selling a car.
You will not see the money again or a car - which probably doesn't exist anyway.

This happens with boat adds all the time, can't see the boat, working on an oil rig or overseas, not back for two weeks etc, send the money to a mate as it's a bargain plus shipping costs. Bye bye.

If it's good to be true - guess what Question don't get caught Embarassed 2015 90 XS SW Bowler

I had a V6 Clio for sale and the advert got cloned, word for word, for a fraction of the price...same scam as this.

Chancers, though I'm sure they get away with it and make lots !
