England 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Stornoway Grey
Paris
Just wondering if anyone can advise.

We are south of Paris at the moment and looking to head there for the day. Any campsite near by (drop in on the train) or can we park anywhere near that would be safe?

Many thanks in advance.

Assuming you're in the Defender, there is a secure carpark near the centre (if you can brave access) that has a 2.30m height. If you want me to track down the details, let me know. Otherwise you want to take the RER which are the large, double decker fast trains to the Paris suburbs.

Where exactly to park is wholly dependent on where you are. Have a look at the map and see what is close, but Paris, much like London, can be safe in one spot and then completely different a mile down the road. Given you're South, one option might be to park at Orly airport where the motorway access will be easy. parking will be secure and where there is a RER station. Easy to find by SatNav. Maybe not the cheapest, but the easiest/safest.... Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

Here's the link:

I think it is a garage (in the mechanical/petrol sense) which has some secure parking available for cars up to 2.10m. Sorry, got the height wrong. Good for Defenders without a rack, but you have to click on the 'van' option. I booked for last December but was unable to use it due to a change in plans, no idea how good it is. But it was literally the only garage near the centre able to accommodate my 110. Shocked Monsieur Le Grenadier

Thanks! Cool

No help on campsites unfortunately as I usually don't look for places nearby public transport myself.

Looking on the website provided by Grenadier there are several parking places that accept vehicles up to 2.2 mt. near to the downtown (for utilitaries) and also some for truck that accept up to 3.6 mt.

Barbette-Marais looks OK...

Cheers and have a nice day in Paris Eduardo

Sorry for the triple reply!
I've just been reminded by the good lady that for a nominal fee they would allow you to leave your car there all day and the bus stops at the site gates

Good luck 🍀

Thanks so much for the replies. I had very limited Internet access so was unable to reply after seeing the first response (thanks grenadier).

We ended up leaving campsite at boussac-bourg (east of limoges) at about 8:30pm and headed to Veules-les-Roses via N roads.

In all about 2000 miles almost entirely off motorways while over the water.

Thumbs Up
