I fitted my own.
The biggest problem I had was cutting the holes?my bumper is black painted stainless steel & the hole cutter wouldn't touch it,so I had to stitch drill the homes then file them smooth. I also blanked off the end of the rear of the bumper so the fitting at the rear of the DRL's wouldn't get full of cr@p. The results were good IMO. Marc |

Don't think the standard bumper will be stainless but as you saw need a good quality hole saw.

Fitted my own round ones. I have a stainless steel bumper and I got a local machine shop to drill the holes cost me £20.00 and the holes were perfect.

I think the new bumper fitted with the drl's are 5mm thick where as the standard one is only 3mm thick, could be where the extra price comes from...

Go to Paddocks pay £115 for a full set of stock size LED lights and fit. Get in LR and flick the small left hand column switch 1 notch forward and your done
Or if you want just stick to normal filament lights and flick the switch |

I went down the DIY route too, but opted for surface mount lights so only had to drill mounting holes plus an access hole for the lead...
Clearly these will be a bit more vulnerable than flush mounted options, but they're only 11mm deep so any form of A-bar or even the bumper end-caps would provide some protection. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |
