or not according to one quote:

"The Land Rover basically disintegrated en route - we broke practically every part of it. We got to Alaska and it had to have major rebuilds because the roads were appalling," Mr Andrews said."

Nevertheless, a great story Thumbs Up

Nice article

Nice to see the adventure to cross South America to North America in the 60's. Most of the current roads was inexistent a trail or in the best case not paved at that time and probably the punishment to the LR were too much (any other vehicle was be dismantled in the first 1,000 miles).

Now the things are more easy here but still we can found nice roads here Mr. Green .

Cheers Eduardo

Don't forget the guys referenced in the recent documentary by Dara O Briain and Ed Byrne:

‘Three Damn Fools’, a trio led by journalist Sullivan Richardson who, in 1941, decided to travel the Pan-American highway. “They took a car from Detroit and over nine months drove it all the way to Tierra del Fuelgo,” Dara O Briain explains. “It was a very well-meaning political statement about pan-Americanism; being a better neighbour, but there was no road – they had horses drive the cars over mountains … it was insane!”

Despite that the idea of a PanAmerican Highway started in 1920, In 1940 most of the route in south America was still a trail for horses and carts without bridges or any facilities...

At least, in Chile the first part of Pan-am highway was paved in the 50's and was ended in the 60's Eduardo
