Thanks for the tip (no pun intended). I've ordered one of the Sealey mini grease guns. |

So bought a grease gun as reconmended on here and greased the prop shaft universal joints at both ends, access was straight forwards and the gun fitted great also. Put some grease in until i could see it was coming out the end of the nipple. Did notice some of the older grease was being pushed out aswell (not from the nipple) so stopped at that point. Hoping this is OK and i didnt put too much pressure through it ? It then took me ages to realise my 2014 110 doesnt have a prop shaft sliding joint nipple, not sure why ? used the k48 Moly stuff which seemed to work well.

You can’t put too much in the UJ’s really, just waste it, but if you do have a nipple on the slider which is 2.4’s just a couple of pumps of grease in the slider, and leave it at that, otherwise over doing it there can be a problem with the sliders.
On the UJ’s I just stop at the point you can see the fresh grease coming out, plus you often hear not long before a little pop, it’s useful to do it whilst warm as the grease will flow better. Currently I’m using Castrol High temp lithium, the K48 is good too, I tend to prefer the Castrol as I think it’s a bit more slick, but equally may need doing a bit more often than the K48. Personal choice I think, there are some other brands out there as well of course. ![]() ___\⭐️Lone|Star|State/___ ____\We|Will|Win/___ ____/🇬🇧🇺🇸\____ _//*⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰*\\_ |

I really struggle to get grease in my 90s UJs so remove the props every 12k to ensure they are correctly greased, my sliding section is greased by pulling back the rubber putting grease behind it and pulling the spline in and out until the grease is well distributed. New nuts and bolts and torque it up and all is good.
there are some nasty photos of damaged gearboxes etc where UJs have failed so I don't want that to happen to me. PS on my original front shaft it don't have splines but have groves with ball bearings in them, I have never pulled the rear apart to check what it is like. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS, I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

^^ That is the best method without doubt, since it also allows you fully to articulate the joints to ensure proper grease distribution as well as feel any failing bearings.
