Mileage 'adjustment' not Defender related | |
Hi Folks, this post is not Defender related.
I am currently looking for a secondhand car for SWMBO.
This week I have looked at two that show about 25K miles at 5 years old, different dealers, both had staple marks in the service books, suggesting to me that at some time in their life they have been sold at an auction.
Curiously none have any service history for the first three years but both show first service and first MOT at about 10K to 15K miles.
I am suspicious that these cars may have been clocked prior to their first MOT and looking on the internet I see many companies offering mileage 'correction' services for a small fee and I also see tools available to 'correct' the mileage yourself for as low as £50.
This is described as a simple task with some suppliers giving assurance that their device will also override other electronic sources of mileage in the car that might otherwise have offered protection against clocking.
I wondered if others have any experience of this type of activity?
Cheers,
Natlas. 2.2 90 XS
