Rear Load liner and Rear XS HT Speakers
Hi

Hoping someone can help, I have recently got my LR Rear Load Liner for the 90 hardtop, we have XS standard rear speakers in the back. Has anyone fitted a liner with these speaker housings. Did you cut the liner around the speak housing or take out the speaker housing and screw it (on top) into the liner?

The speaker housing has a flat ledge which runs out and it self taped screwed into the wheel arch box.

Also un bolt the luggage eyelets and cut the liner or cut the liner the poke the eyelets through?

Thanks very much

I'd cut as little as you can, remove the speaker panel and put it on top if which is unlikely it's too tight a fit shave a small amount off the panel.
The eyelets I'd poke through.
Depends how permanent you want it of course too.
If it's going to stay put a long time them fit it as I've suggested if you want it in and out often then you'd be better off cutting.
Be careful though and measure twice cut once etc etc.

Thumbs Up

I've the same choice to make now and I'm going to go with cutting the liner for two reasons ...

The speaker panel ledge is big and i think would look a bit ridiculous on the top of the liner - it looks like it's designed to fit under the CSW carpet.

Also the panel has a recess at the bottom where it looks like the CSW carpet would fit into - thus my plan is to cut the load liner to follow the inner contour of that, which should give a seamless / factory look.

Thank you both, very kind.

Tried both ways and ended up going with cutting the liner, as Ander says the groove around the base of the speaker housing worked well to fit cut liner around it.

I also completely removed eyelets and bolts drilled out the holes in the liner and used them to hold the the thing in place.

Liner is actually quite easy to cut with a sharp pair of scissors.

I can post pictures if required, it's quite simple just got to make sure as Steve says measure twice cut once.

I guess if you do cut it'll mean you can get it out easy too if you need to, I always find with any sort of matting you often get a dirt and debris layer between the matting and the body underneath that needs cleaning out once in a while.
How do these stay in place are they semi rigid or some kind of fastener?
I may think about similar one day as I'm sure it'd have a sound deadening effect.
