Td5 not starting as normal
Hi all
my td5 defender hasn't been starting normally recently usually it take 2-3 secs now it's 5-6 secs sometimes normal
I know I probably a bit picky
Thought it might be a diesel leak of some sort or air getting in somewhere
Thanks

It can be caused by one thing or a multitude of many that's the beauty of the Td5's. You need to go through the various things to try to find what the problem is, it would be ideal to put the diagnostics on the vehicle to see if there is a problem but understanding what the diagnostics tell you can be a nightmare.
The simple things are change the fuel filter, when was the last service? Check the performance of the pump and fuel pressure valve, Then there's the air bleed valve in the top of the fuel filter housing. There's the MAF sensor as well as the MAP sensor, the crank sensor could be giving a poor signal.
You mentioned lumpy running when coming up to lights etc, that is often attributed to the MAF sensor but it can be down to oil in the red plug where it goes into the ECU.
It's more a matter of going through the obvious ports of call and along the way you will get to understand your vehicle and get to cure the problem. Good Luck Thumbs Up
