[Wanted] WANTED LHD 110 DCPU ST
A friend of mine in the south of France would like a Left Hand Drive Defender 110 Double Cab pick up soft top. Pref 2.4 Puma and must have proper type approval paperwork as the last one he had ex UN tdi 300 110 was a nightmare to register in France. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

France 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Corris Grey
I was looking as well, last year. Most LHD Crew Cabs in the UK are now Icon/Twister /Urban Truck/Kahn etc '-ized' for the Eastern European market, so rare and effing expensive. 110 Crews are hard to come by in Europe as a whole, they seem to prefer 130s, however they are out there. I am sure he knows, but Autoscout.fr is where he should start looking in France (a couple on there now), but they hold their prices. Importing non-EU certified car (UN, Africa spec, mid-East etc) is getting harder by the day.

If he wants a bargain, he should consider Spain. I was worried, but my old man who lives there explained that the Spanish MOT is more regulated than the UKs and that if you buy through a 'Gestor' you can be assured the car has no debt, fines, ain't stolen etc. Also, (as we know from Eduardo Thumbs Up ) there's a big following for Defenders in Spain. Most are white utility versions, used on farms and by electricity companies etc, but there are are huge variety. I was looking at one site (coches.net) plus a dealer near Córdoba, who seems to have the largest stock. http://www.automovilesmartin.com

Indeed, here is one for sale now: http://www.coches.net/land-rover-defender-...-covo.aspx

Ultimately, this will be easier as they will have all the EU conformity. A UK spec one won't so even on these variants he will have to make changes that can cost money and be time consuming.

Finally, avoid Italy (apart from visiting, enjoying, eating etc). I live on the border and have Italian friends who have bought and brought to France and even for them it is difficult. Unless he has good Italian or an Italian friend, it would be very difficult and not always easy to know what you're buying. And for Germany, generally very well looked after, full dealer history etc, but expensive.

Hope that helps your mate? Good luck. Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....
