dont know if they are a LR part, but you can get them from silverline 4x4 tyres on the web. They are the UK distributor AFAIK.

Thanks Mike. I am actually curious to know if they have an official LR part number, and their NSN.
Just part of my thirst for knowledge really (what SWMBO calls my OCD)! |

AFAIK, the Blindos were fitted during upgrades to the WMIKs, for increased load. Not Pulse or Snatch.
The work wasn't done by LR, and they didn't supply the wheels. Could be wrong, but seem to recall it was Ricardo that did the work. Silverline is probably your only chance of getting any new ones. Yes, it was Ricardo that did the RWMIK+ upgrade. Also did the VIXEN upgrade to Snatch, they had Blindos too. (And a 2.8 engine with auto box) |

Hi Blackwolf. Got mine direct from factory in Italy, AR Casting. They are called the F-15 Tech. Emailed and had great service. Spoke to Elena (e.andretta@arcasting.it) and was quoted approx £750 for five incl VAT and delivery. May not be too much of a saving on Silverline, but it was to my door. Silverline would only deliver UK, not France. Got Cooper ST Maxx shoes, fitted, for another £450. Obviously mine were all Euro prices and French delivery. Not sure how much this might help? Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

MOD are currently using the AR F-15 Tech and recently the Evo Corse Dakar wheel (terrafirma version)
I presume they've started using the Terrafirma version too, because of inability to satisfy the demand.. |

Is there a difference between military Blindos and ordinary Blindos you can buy in the UK?

Not sure on differences but I wouldn't be using ex military blindos on my 110. They are/were used in service with run flats. So if they managed to get a puncture/damage to the tyre they could still extract from the situation they were in.
Knowing most squaddies have no mechanical sympathy they would drive well in excess of the recommended distances with knackered tyre. That could due untold, unseen damage to the rim. And for that reason I value my 110 and my family to much to put a cheap second hand set of ex mil wheels onto my car. If you want to take that chance then feel free. 110 D250 SE HT 110 USW SOLD RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD |

They're the same wheel. Blindo used to be the name referring to the F-15 Texh which was the only one the MOD used. 15 spoke design with steel cups inserted into the bolt holes. There's a YouTube vid of the factory somewhere.
Ricardo chose the Blindo because of it's strength. The other useful feature was that if the vehicle hit an ied, the wheel would shatter instead of turning in shrapnel like the HD wolf wheels would. The point about the run flats isn't a major problem as the vehicles that were equipped with run flats had special plastic inserts fitted too. The looked like a big plastic bolt-together polo mint, in primer green. Ex military wheels will have been battered by a million miles in crappy conditions though.. N.O.S. Military ones would be a good idea, but you don't find them just knocking about. They will have been bought as batches for projects like RWMIK and there will not have been surplus. There's a place in S wales selling some at the moment from a load of military land rovers. They're the Evo Corse version. New take off, in drab olive green. |

i have 8 ex mil Blindos. 5 are on my 110.
i removed the run flat section. very heavy and unable to judge there history in theatre! all 8 wheels were stripped of the sand paint and tested....100% pass on cracks and defects ( in my old life i had access to a lab that quantified PED regs on pipework and vessels) Very happy with them almost indestructable, standard LR fitment and rather unique in satin black. Did think about selling mine as i had a set of hutchinsons lined up but they are very wide with the beadlock system and heavy. Mine came direct from the MOD...worth chatting with some people in the know like i did |
