massage / vibrating seats
these defenders never cease to amaze me.

after 4 plus years of owning a 110 xs my factory fit vibrating seats have had an intermittent fault. all along it has seemed they would work their best at either 52(ish) mph or when braking. Always thought it was strange but I never bothered complaining because I didn't care much for them and I had bigger fish to fry so to speak.

anyhow after changing my output flange on my transfer box to the rear the vibrating seats have packed up all together - this all seemed too much of a coincidence so after a little research it would appear Land Rover don't do vibrating seats in the Defender.....

Confused

any how on my way to work this morning I had to slow from about 40mph to stand still and it struck just how smooth it was Shocked - now looking forward to another smooth 4 years + of ownership Thumbs Up

happy motoring guys / gals and here's to hoping we get a load of snow next year.

Laughing

yes really mate.

after the original drum and second drum both catching on the shoes it kinda meant something wasn't round so the obvious thing was the flange being machined off centre (not unheard of apparently).

I'm guessing the vibrating etc was causing was causing all sorts of issues from shoe rubbing, to drum / prop sometimes being ok but then other times if it was caught just so it would isolate just wrong and then get worse and worse.

it was obvious really looking back there was in my mind no other reason for the hand brake to have varying amounts of travel when applied.

sure there's still a little bit of clatter from time to time but just a little. the juddering when slowing down has gone and so far there's not been any 'clunk wallop bang' when engaging / dis engaging the clutch Thumbs Up

ps - like your new hinges k9f.

oh - perhaps I didn't word that quite right.....now looking forward to another 4 years ownership, with it now running smoothly.

We've been here before more than once. I truly hope your motoring will be trouble free, no rattles, shakes or squeaks. I will not however be rushing off down to the bookies to see what odds they'll give me.

OCD.....you been chatting to my wife? she thinks the same and clearly you're both mistaken. Cool

had to smile the other day tho as someone thought I'd put an after market exhaust on ....... amazing what 5 tubes of autosol, 2 dozen old tea towls and some elbow grease to your tail pipe can do.
