Would a real retro look Heritage have sold?
Cant help but think LR lost an opportunity with the celebration series in not doing a limited run of very retro looking 90's.

I'm thinking soft top with proper galvanised front bumper, bonnet and door hinges, grille, panel cappings and windscreen surround etc.

But still with the creature comforts inside Razz

I do like the look of the official heritage edition but it would have worked better for me if they had really gone retro.

Do you think it would have been a good seller or just too hardcore to sell in the numbers needed?
Too tricky for type approval, etc?
Nanny state aside, it must surely have been possible without too much of a challenge.

Personally if I had the cash to spare, I would have gone for such a retro looking motor in preference to the Autobiography.
If I ever win the lottery I might just set out to build one.

Yep, pretty much like that !!!! Thumbs Up

Looks great. Just needs a rag top Smile

And I just noticed it has the mandatory dint in the tailgate from the tow ball to give extra authenticity.

We had this one a couple of years ago in the Netherlands. Nearly bought it. Who knows I'll add a used one in time.

Spot on. Unique paint, soft top, steel wheels and basic interior. That's how the 90 started and that's how it should end, IMO.m

Remember that one, very limited edition of 10 pieces if I have it right. That grill looks better than the Heritage grill I think. Thumbs Up You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I heard before the release that the retro was going to back to almost series one. A modern defender exterior with a totally stripped out interior ! No door cards, limited dash, sliding windows, lift off door tops.

The source of that information will now be ignored if such topic comes up in the future

I think your soft top looks awesome from the outside Tom, I think it's the dash that puts people off.

IMHO it would be worth buying a new dash shell from LR (they are not as expensive as you think) and sell your cream dash separately
