Not so sure about my scangauge
I recoverd a little TD4 freelander that died on a friend of mine and then connected my scan-gauge II.

Found no list of error codes but the driver reakons the engine light came on as the car died.

We tried cranking engine with no luck.

Few minutes later - she started again.

Why did the gauge not pick up any faults? I used both cables supplied with the gauge.

Anyone ever seen any faults on one of these scan units?

Yes on my Puma but ONLY when the MIL was illuminated. It would then let me clear that code and the light would go out. 110 2.4TDCi

Had this problem myself on a Freelander td4 (2.0 BMW engine not the new 2.2 Ford). Dealer guessed it was the crank position sensor (and swappedmine for another on the forecourt) problem fixed.

Oh - so only the code that causes the fault is shown?

That's pretty annoying - I thought I would be able to find any codes stored but that are not serious enough to light the engine fault check. Sad

Yes, that was what I thought too, but I've since learned this is not the case. 110 2.4TDCi
