Greenlaning in Salisbury Plain.
Last BH weekend we took the 90 down to Salisbury Plain and met up with some friends. We had (as always) a great time and did huge amount of miles offroad. I left the puma at home because I wanted to do a couple of lanes that were quite interesting and felt more comfortable with the 90. I popped one of the Pro comp shocks and had to adjust both front wheel bearings but apart from that and a few scratches no damage was done. Anyway I have put just a few of the photos below.

yes as long as you keep to the green lanes and there is no live fire. During live fire all the lanes through impact zones are closed. If you abuse the lanes and go off onto other areas the wardens have the authority to take your vehilces and they do! Get your self OS maps to keep you on track and you will be fine. One of the our party had a fab bit of kit. A littl bigger than a Iphone but a gps preloaded with OS, it wasn't cheap but boy was it good. To give yourself an idea of the amount of lanes go to multimap and clisk the o/s button. Some are easy to find and others are little used and can be hard to follow. We found some lanes this year that we simply did not know where there but that was down to the bit of kid i mentioned earlier.

You didn't tell them about the tyres Rolling Eyes
One fifth of all the green lanes in Britain are in Wiltshire. Has to be worth a visit. Very Happy

I've been escorted off the Plain twice.

1st was leading a group, no flags anywhere just a dark blue Defender with blue light & bloke in uniform.

2nd time there were red flags & a sign saying do not proceed beyond flags. I took this to mean if I stayed parallel I was not passing them & therefore could continue Plus there were cattle, tractors & various army vehicles. I assumed they wouldn't want to pay compo to farmers or hurt themselves. Anyway Defender turns up and asks who I am so I said "Harvey", he asked who I work for so I said "Mott MacDonalds", he asked what my role was with MottMac and I said Resident Engineer for Mechanical/Electrical SCADA Installations", he said I shouldn't be there and asked me to follow him off. At the time I wasn't trying to be funny or sarcastic, but possibly gave the impression I was possibly working there abouts, don't know if that stopped my Disco2 neing confiscated or whether they weren't going to do it anyway Wink

There are phone numbers available for the MoD Police and the Range Wardens.
Always worth a call before venturing onto the Plain.
