England 1998 Defender 90 Td5 SW Auto Oslo Blue
Have you looked of Maxtrax? They are meant to be a good allrounder on sand, snow and mud. I have a set but not had call to use them yet (other than for levelling the 90 on a slope for a good night's sleep in the roof tent, and helping out a camper van bogged in a sand-hole on a camp site).

Advantages - very lightweight and stackable, mounting pins available

Disadvantage - They are a bit expensive in the UK, with I believe Devon4x4 being the only importer.

I got one pair from D44 before we went to Oz (so we could work out where to put them) and then got a second pair when we got to Sydney (for around 1/2 the price!). Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

France 2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Santorini Black
+1 for Maxtrax.
A mate of mine has a set which we used.....A LOT.whilst crossing the Pyrenees last April.
Nice and light,with a good footprint & agressive pattern.Strong too.
