Thermocouple keeps coming out!
Hi
When I got the defender there was a whistle noise that was variable with load on the engine. I traced it to a thermocouple on the exhaust. It's the middle one - there seem to be three with one on the top sticking up, and two on the side on the DPF. ITs the upper one on the side that you have to remove the top part of the heat shield to access the nut holding it in. Having done that and tightened it, after around 800 miles it has now worked loose again and I have managed to push it back in and finger tighten it. Before I remove the heat shield again - which is a fiddly pain! - is there supposed to be locktight or something applied to stop it undoing itself? I guess it's due to very high temp and different metal expansion that lets it loosen off.

Thanks
Jon
