Hazard switch.
Should the legend panel in this switch as factory fitted illuminate?

Mine doesn't but the wiring diagram suggests it should illuminate (flashing?) when switched on. Obviously because there is a light on the instrument binnacle it doesn't need to, but I was wondering whether I could make it illuminate when the lights are on.

I believe the little blade terminals on the sides of the switch that illuminate the light on it. I am sure i remember it working when i connected it up on an onld 2.5na

Yes it should, but many don't because either the wires have fallen off or the bulb has gone.

Obviously only applies to hazard switches fitted to pre-2002 dashes, i.e. the ones located bottom right of instruments.

Anyone knows how the bulb for this switch looks like? I need to replace mine and ordered a few from LR Parts, they look like tiny light bulbs with matching threaded base rather than blades. When I showed them to the shop where I had my AC done, since the dash was down, I thought they could replace the bulb for me but when I showed them the bulbs I bought, they said it was wrong. They claimed a different bulb. I now contacted my local source of parts and he tells me it's a common enough bulb that I needn't have ordered it. But he AC guy says there are no local sources. What's the real deal?

By the way, I'm currently not in the UK nor the EU so it just makes my quest all the more difficult for minor bits like this. I just want to be able to see the switch at night as it doesn't light up but works just fine. At first I was being told by the AC guy that maybe it really doesn't light up and I told him, it's a Hazard Light switch and it SHOULD light up as I have yet to see a vehicle where this isn't lit. True enough, we went over to his truck to check and lo and behold, his switch lit. Rolling Eyes

Thanks ericvv,

I actually saw them take that bulb holder out sans bulb. Am I to understand that you replace the whole thing? I should think not, right? If memory serves I used to have an issue with something like this with my now gone vehicle and I just changed out the peanut bulb, as they are called here, and all is well.

But in the event that this is not the case, I just order for STC1205?

I did mention that I got bulbs from LR Parts, maybe I should try fitting one to see if I really do have the bulbs after all?

Hi ericvv,

Do you have a photo of the bulbs just by themselves and not with the holder?
