I had an oiled type filter (K&N?) on a 3ooTdi Disco years ago but wouldn't bother again. On long dusty outback roads even with an RAI it just clogged too quickly and washing it out was not easy without facilities to do it....like plenty of turps or whatever.
Now I stay with the original and take a spare. AlanH. PS. Being a cynical sort of ![]() |

Isn't that just saying it did too good a job? If a paper filter on the same road stayed serviceable longer, you have to wonder where the extra dust went? |

^^^ Exactly
![]() The only problem with having an ITG filter fitted is when you send it for a service it is more then likely the 'technician' won't differentiate between it and a standard one and end up throwing it away ![]() |

A paper filter works just as well. Its just much easier to clean when you are in middle of nowhere with no access to proper facilities. When driving sandy tracks here you should be cleaning the paper filter every night. You would be surprised how much sand comes out after a days driving. I cant imagine trying to clean an oil filter everynight it would be a nightmare.

From what I could see the extra dust dropped into the bottom of the filter housing instead of sticking to the filter. Far easier to take paper filter out and give it a light bashing (assuming you don't carry a vac with you into the bush
