Transfer case - difflock light switch
Now I have had the transfer case swapped out to a Disco one I have noticed the difflock light does not light up. I know the difflock works as I tried it on the bench and I can feel the difflock engage and see it when I turn the props (so I assume its still working now its been fitted)

So is it just a case of remove the switch from the other transfer case that worked and replace with the one that does not? 1999 Defender TD5 110

IIRC they're adjustable, they screw in and out to find the point when the light works like the reverse switch

As aobve, but they do fail. When I fitted a replacement (low mileage ex-written-off vehicle) t-box on mine last year, the switch didn't work on the new box. I fitted the switch off the old box, which had been working fine, and that didn't work either! A new switch sorted the problem.

If you unscrew the switch you can test it with a meter to see if it's working, just press the ball on the end and you should see the switch close, release the ball and it should open.

On later vehicles the switch isn't adjustable, you just screw it all the way in. Also on later vehicles the connector is different to earlier ones, other the switch would be identical. You can of course cut and splice to combine old and new parts if necessary.
