The fact it is complicated doesn't scare me.

Not scay but difficult to understand. If you already have a basic system that works why not adapt that to work for your needs bit by bit. It will make it less complicated and a staged approach is better perhaps than perhaps jumping in at the deep end?
The diagram I provided would work all you would have to do is duplicate it for each set of two lights and fit two-way switches centre/off, main beam and battery and supply the relay with a second live battery supply, the lives would have to be switched not the earth in this case and it would meet all your criteria in your first post........simple! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

Okay., will try to wrap my head around your setup because I,still, can't see how I can switch on a set of ledbars seperate from high beams in that diagram, but maybe that is just me.

I'll get back on this later this week.

Anyhow, thx everybody already for your input and insights.

Hi Zone30,

Two way switches with a two seperate input feeds one direct from the battery and the other feed from the high beam feed. The output(s) of the two way switch connected to the coil of your relay. In one position they will only switch on with high beam, in the other whenever it is selected to battery feed position. With two switches both sets of two lamps can be selected and isolated at will individually as a pair. See below, best I can do as I am onboard in France. Hope this clarifies.
