By law, no but the onus is on you, if you use an independant, to prove the vehicle was properly serviced.

Hello merebrowpaul,
A decent Independant will be cheaper than the dealers and it will NOT affect your warranty. Dependant on how big any warranty work may be they do NOT get paid by Land Rover for it so may decline to do it. I've just been quoted that sort of price for a 24,000 service. Had to 'negotiate' with the dealer though...Otherwise over £500. Can't remember what I paid for first service but think that was about right. Looking at the thread links I posted it seems a fair price....If you changed your profile to give an indication of where in the UK you actually are someone may be able to give you a good recommendation!

If you've got no issues and know of a good independant find out a cost from him then 'play' off with the dealers. I did and shaved £130 quid off. Independants are generally cheaper but still do a good job which doesn't affect warranty. My trade off went along the lines of "Can you give me a good reason why you should service my vehicle apart from the £150 I'll save by going to my independant?" Worked for me!

If JE's quote include VAT it's only £147 cheaper. If your conscience about having it dealer serviced is bothering you phone JE and use the cheaper price as a 'beating stick' to hammer 'em down!' If not go to the independant and spend the money you've saved on some bling for your baby. Job jobbed!
