Td5 Fuel Tank.....ok for Petrol?

As the title really, is a Td5 Diesel fuel Tank ok to use with Petrol?

I'm unsure if a plastic tank was used on 50th V8 90s? Working towards Carry on camping!

I think NAS spec Defenders had plastic tanks. 2005 Td5 90 XS
