Now that my Goodyear MT/Rs are approaching the end of their lives (ie they are getting pretty worn out) I wanted to start swapping over to KM2s. I figured they must be pretty good as all the power companies run them plus plenty of other 4x4 users, but my friend in Portugal has a set on his 110 and says they are not very good, with lumps in the tyres so bad they cannot be balanced, as well as being very noisy and not very good in mud. Having driven the vehicle myself I couldn't see any problems, but wondered if this was a one-off or a common theme.
I had a puncture in one pretty worn tyre last week so I suspect I will need to buy a replacement pretty soon. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Using balancing beads also known as dynabeads should cure any balancing woes.

Key term is general purpose. It's not "really" a mud tire, but a very good all rounder indeed. I've had mine for about 30 000 miles now and still reasonably happy...

Thanks, I feel a bit more reassured now. I don't really need a super-duper mud pattern as most of the work I do is road work, so for what I need they should be fine. Thanks again.

Im changing to Duratrac's for the winter season the KM'2's work for summer for me
So the Shooting season is spent on GY Duratrac's with the correct winter rating |

Almost as good as the original pattern but better fuel mpg and quieter too

Well as I suspected my flat tyre is indeed scrap, it seems it overheated as I drove to try and find somewhere safe to stop, so my local ATS has me a KM2 on order.
As an aside, I have found that our works Defenders run KM2 in 265/75R16 which look very groovy, but I decided to play it safe and got for a 235/85R16 to match my remaining Wranglers. The back two have plenty of life left even after 50K miles. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |
