You are almost right.....i believe you can claim tax relief on the additional 25p only. so I guess that takes it up to about 35p?

I should but I don't count that extra bit as it just get lost in with my wages and not part of my expenses if that makes sense?

Agreed the defender never will be an economical motor compared to modern cars but that said it's clearly not too bad either?

Muddybigdog - calculator is solar powered.....perhaps all this sunshine is making the numbers bigger?

350 miles on a 90 sounds pretty good?

Caterham, you might want to Google for technical details of the car below. It claims to use 2 litres of petrol every 100 kilometres. Quite impressive, even for a concept car.

Oh God - how did I get drawn into this discussion :blub:

Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Mr. Green  Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

^^Was already suggested some time ago in a very similar thread started by our Caterham friend Whistle

Caterham, the diesel gauge is not really linear, but if what you say would be true, I am convinced you have not a real Defender but some Chinese copy Rolling with laughter

Idea Idea Now I see, your Chinese copy shows 188.7 miles, but it has been wired differently there, and in reality you have done only 188.7km on a quarter tank. Whistle Still pretty good though. Thumbs Up
You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Laughing

Anyway onto a more serious note.....on my way out of reading (about 12 miles) I had to pull in for fuel which should have been a very straightforward thing!

But oh no.....i think I might have a problem - not exactly fuel related but there was some kind of malfunction with the x member. When I got out to look a stationary vauxhall astra had got caught in the x member?

Crying or Very sad

Jwl -. Very much doubt I'll make it there. I presume you're going?

Looks like she did - big time Whistle Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.
Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW.

[Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc]

Whats all the fuzz around? My usual tank stopp is after 350 miles with about 11 US Gallons to refill and I went once 530 miles on a tank driving like Miss Daisy. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.
