to be honest I think you will struggle to fit a parrot wiring in behind the radio then you got the control box as well

the wiring system is easy to fit but quite bulky it works by unplugging your iso connector from radio then you plug that in to parrot loom then parrot loom has a iso plug that goes back in to radio , so uses the radio speakers for phone calls and mutes radio automatic
+ the parrot loom connects to a control box about the size of a fag packet

the mic has its own small wire as does the small screen
all power connections are taken from radio connecter iso plug

the radios that have built in Bluetooth work ok , I did fit one in the wifes car but the mic was on the front of radio so didn't pick up very well (ok to say "im on my way or ill be late " but hard to have a conversation on , and a pig to try and dail out on as you couldnt see the phonebook listing on the small display and having to look down at it was dodgy
I then fitted a Motorola kit as it was half the price of a parrot and seems better in some ways , but wiring is the same bulky set up as the parrot

you seem to want the same sort of system as me , small screen for in/out call display , separate speaker for calls and a mic for calls , small control box and really a mute feed to mute standard radio when a call is incoming or outgoing , BUT I cant find one

Humm does sound like there are alot of wires to hide.

Does anyone know how much room there is under the tray in the dashboard? it feels very hollow might be a place to hide it?

Plenty of room each side of the HU at the back.
I suggested the Parrot because I think it suits your requirements best and is more of a simple set up.
If you don't go for the Parrot you'll need a BT HU and that might mean an external BT unit or if it's in built updates etc to keep it current.

Good point forgot about that Thumbs Up

I like the look of the parrot system I think a good external mic is a good idea especially if it plays through the existing speakers.

I don't want to change the existing head unit as it works for me and i got it for such a good price.

I think I will go for the Parrot System and see how I get on.

Thank you for the advice and comments everyone been very helpful as always Bow down Bow down

I had a parrot ck3100 which I removed, and might have somewhere out in the workshop. I can check tomorrow. It will fit, but I found people struggled to hear me due to the landrover soundtrack. Hence the removal !!!! I just ignoor it now if it rings and call back later, or pull over if its that important. Mind you I have not seen any hands free texting/email kits yet Banging Head Censored Censored Censored Banging Head The number of people you see doing it is just staggering !!!! Shocked

All I do with mine is add a jack lead(double ended 3.5mm plug lead) from the phone earphone socket to an external input socket on the radio. When the phone rings switch the radio to auxilary input and press the phone button(could be voice activated) If I use my phone as an mp3 player it automatically overides the music player anyway. With the phone in a screen mounted phone holder the phone microphone picks up with little external noise and the received call is played through the speakers. Cost? £4 for the lead from Maplins.

Jim if you could have a check would be much appreciated Thumbs Up

I know where you are coming from to be honest I have always been put off the idea of hands free kits but recently I have found myself in situations where I needed to be ringing someone while on route and I don't want to have to stop and ring.

Good point Matt.

I'm thinking of doing a CB install at same time so when it is all apart I will do it all in one go so its all together and installed sensibly.
