Hi
I was rear ended in March by a galaxy!! (car, not interspace universe ![]() had new rear cross member and wiring. Now all ok but looking at yours you may get a new chassis if they repair it ![]() Hope it goes well for you. Tommo |

Well, time for an update.
Note the time delay...... Had an letter from the third parties insurance company in September accepting responsibility, engineers report wrote off my vehicle in October. Had a low settlement offer last week, I did a small amount of research, asked for a larger amount and the final figure was increased by £2000. I've bought the Cat D salvage for an acceptable figure. So, does anyone know of a TDCI or TD5 CSW being broken?? Sandy |

Seems the way to go with Defender claims, buy back and repair yourself. What sort of figure does the salvage work out at in terms of % of realistic value if undamaged? Andy

To be fair though that rear X member looks rotten and the damage may not have been as bad if the X member was in better nick ![]() 1988 Defender 90 county 200tdi ( Beast ) Paul Walker 1973-2013 ( I Almost Had You ) |

That's true, I would have been very unhappy if I'd replaced the x member before the shunt though.
However, it's done and dusted now, HD crossmember here we come! Sandy |

Why not stick a galv chassis on it as it will make it last a lot longer and will be worth a lot more if you come to sell.

That's what I am doing next year as mine has had a new rear X member recently by p o but the chassis is going in the centre, it is repairable but really once you start welding them you never stop so have decided on a galv chassis

Well, strip down started in November with some good news, rear door was found to be serviceable after the spare wheel carrier was removed.

Dang! Nice to see you're starting to get the truck back to working order. Keep sending us updates, some of us may need the information someday. Hopefully not though.
Is there anything we can do or add on to the truck to prevent such damage? Bumperettes? |
