Do you leave the vehicle stood for a little while after washing?
It could just be the brake pads sticking to the discs and the bang you hear is then releasing as you drive off. Happens more with high metallic content pads. |

It's not from the pads sticking (rusting) to the disks; my Elise does this.
The cracking / knocking is not a one-off either, it happens every time I pull away or come to a halt; at least for a few minutes until things have dried out. My initial thought was that it was the springs moving on the platforms. |

Sintered pads in a Lotus can be quite amusing, especially if it's a third/fourth car and only used on high days and holidays!
Can you rule out the handbrake sticking? Definitely not TADTS. |
