Rear wiper motor dead
Simple question
My rear wiper has stopped working
The relay still outputs 12.6 down the green/red wire that goes into the motor, but the motor does not move.
Is this a dead motor, or could there be something else to check before I have to buy a replacement motor.
Many thanks

Could be a break in the green/red wire where it comes through from the rear of the tub to the door or a broken/loose earth wire, best way to check is to test for voltage directly at the motor.

Voltage at the motor still won't confirm the integrity of your earth. Ideally if you've a multimeter check for votage and check the earths too. You could just 'jury rig' a 12 volt filament in the circuit to check the wiring is ok. If it illuminates when the wiper is selected the motor's goosed.

OK thanks
I have 13.5v going into the top of the motor through the red/green wire when earthed onto the rear cross member.
But when the multi meter is put onto the black wire that also goes into the motor, then it only reads 1.2v.
I assume that the black wire is an earth ?
If I connect the wiper motor directly onto a battery it works fine.

Soi if I have an earth problem, how do I track it down and solve it?

Also if I turn on the rear window heater I then get 13v throuth the black wire - confusing

HRW & RWW share an earth. It simply indicates that there's a break in the.earth connection from the door. Check the wires in the rubber trunk from the door.

Thanks Blackwolf
The earth wire is intact through the rubber into a 6 pin connector located behind the metal cover .
From the connector onwards (a black/white wire) it is dead so must be broken somewhere - it dissapears down to the indicator and then under the aux fuel tank and after that I do not know where ?
So I need a new earth
There is an unused two pin connector (with a purple and a black wire) with all the other wires
Can I use this black wire as an earth for the wiper

Sorry to sound simple but electrics are not my strong point
