The confusion is this.

Quote:
one wheel up CDL off - wheel and prop turn.

That indicates the axle diff is working.

Quote:
Both wheels up, CDL works as it should, ie neither wheel turns.

This indicates a seized diff.

Inconsistent!

.....and the input from the prop causing both wheels to turn in the same direction? It wasn't me!

You'd expect that regardless of the state of the diff - it's only turning crownwheel & pinion not the diff gears.

Ok. So it's input from the wheel that will cause the other to counter rotate.
You keep typing, I'll keep learning.

In the meantime, I think I'll bung another diff in and see if that cures the problem.

Now onto the CDL lever/linkage adjustment. It wasn't me!

How long you had this truck?

Possibly a LSD or some form of locker fitted?

About four months ish.
And I suppose the only way of knowing anything is to pull it apart. It wasn't me!

I foresee another steep learning curve coming up Ozzy! I'm sure Vikki will keep your brow mopped! You've just got four and a half weeks to get sorted!

With a bit of luck and a following wind, I should have a second hand one in by the weekend.
I'll just add it to the pile of bits I have to fit before then.

Rear wheel bearings, pads and discs all round, full service etc etc. It wasn't me!

I'm in the middle of making my rock/tree sliders. I am not having another episode where a rock jumps out and gets me! It comes to something when you have to take the door hinge off to get the boy out!

What I forgot to add was now that the CDL is fully unlocked, the winding up symptoms have gone (who'd have thought it), but the two wheels up, one turning thing persists.

Any more thoughts on this? Because I'm stumped. Obviously I don't want to start replacing parts that don't need it. It wasn't me!

With two wheels up and the centre diff UNLOCKED turning one wheel will cause EITHER the other wheel to turn in the opposite direction OR the propshaft to turn, whichever has least friction in your axle. Provided that one or the other happens this is nothing to worry about.

With two wheel up and the centre diff LOCKED turning one wheel cannot turn the propshaft so the only thing that can happen is that the opposite wheel rotates in the opposite direction.

Provided that the above happens and there are no obvious grindy graunchy sensations or noises it seems likely to me that the centre diff lock was the origin of your symptoms.

HTH, we'll get there in the end!

I know, I know. I keeping quiet now just waiting for the next "problem" on mine, loads of little niggly jobs but the nicest thing was I went through all the fault diagnosis on Sunday, first time for a couple of months, and nothing came up!

There you go Ozzy, you've got you own back! I took youngest to a Scout Camp on Friday night and just a mile from home after a 100mile round trip the damned abs/tc lights came on Shocked

Stuck the diagnostics on it Saturday, gave me a fault on the NSF sensor signal(huge sigh of relief that it wasn't the shuttle vavle job again) so today(Sunday) I set about having a look. Quick look at the wiring, seemed to be all intact so out with the jack and the problem showed itself as soon as the wheel left the floor, the tyre slid across an inch.........swivel bearings. Couple of shims disposed of and all sorted Thumbs Up
