For those new to Defenders/Offroading...
Chaps,

We have done a few events now and all have been great fun Thumbs Up however there are quite a few new members now on and indeed members that have Defenders that may want to join in on events that may feel a little worried about using their machines or dont want to feel silly...fear not Thumbs Up

Would you guys be interested if i sorted out a weekend session where by we discussed the following:

1) Using your defender offroad, when to use difflock and low ratio box etc
2) Basic recovery techniques
3) The essential equipment required for offroading
4) Using communications (CB, PMR etc)
5)Winch use and training

This isnt meant to sound condecending in anyway as i would love more members to get involved and start enjoying their vehicles, the forum, etc etc.

Weekend would be very informal, a few of us would be happy to go through the above over the course of the weekend.
Rough agenda as below:

Meet early sat morning for a introductory briefing
Discussion sessions around the above topics
Demonstartions of winch use, recovery techniques etc
Group natter!!

BBQ and Beers in the evening

Day 2

Use of an offroad site and or some greenlanes to put theory into practice (supervised if required)
Now the emphasis will be on fun..most of you who know me, Sonic, AndrewS etc like to have a good giggle, so you will know there will be plenty of laughs on tap!!.

As posh new age Defender drivers though i must insist the following items will be thrown on the camp fire, rigger boots, bush hats, and camo trousers strictly not allowed!!

Now we may have to hire a site and potential beg some qualified forum members to help so there may be a charge but ill let you know once i have an idea of members, what do you think? You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things

Oh Censored I won't be allowed cause I wear a tilly hat Big Cry

It actually sounds like a bloody good plan. Farming for 20 years has given me a lot of experience driving off road from combine harvesters to escorts but winching is new to me and I would love to find out what a PMR is Thumbs Up

I am certainly interested if you loosen the headgear rule Bow down 59 2.4 110 XS Utility

In fact, there could be a related course for us:

1) essential equipment
2) basic communications
3) recovery techniques
