Help! Unleaded in tank! Replies ASAP please.
My business partner just called (I'm in an airport unable to help) to say he filled his Puma tank with unleaded. There was a 1/4 tank of diesel left. He then drove two miles and has now been towed to a small garage after conking out. If anyone can give him some pointers could they email phil@synergyyachting.com as he will see these on his Blackberry.

I'm hoping to hear this isn't a big issue but suspect otherwise......!

May help with a few pointers will look further: Just Googled as I have no experience with this issue but you may get route you want to go down by looking at these:

Complete drain and filter changes seem to be the normal route down which to travel. If you've got AA/RAC cover get them to take it home and sort it yourself. Be wary who you involve as warranty may be affected. Ultimately the route down which you travel can range from the cost of draining the tank and filters to whatever they decide to charge - be careful and good luck. Let us know how you get on! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Call LR assist and let them sort it.

I don't think the Defender is too bad - it's the FFRR and RRS that are super-expensive I think. Maybe the D3 as well. I think they have to strip all the fuel lines out and replace Shocked One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

Warranty Protection!
What about warranty! It could be null and void if LR Assist becomes involved surely? Best to get it home AA/RAC if you're a member and seek further advice and /or do it yourself if you're able!

Just my opinion! Thumbs Up

I've done this on an Escort van. They drained the fuel tank, drained the lines and fuel filter, filled it with diesel and revved the nuts off it until the smoke cleared. It then ran fine. I too drove about 2 miles until it crept to a standstill.

This will not be covered by the warranty I don't suppose. Good luck.

It shouldn't affect your warranty. When I bought my wife's FL2 they expressely told us to call LR assist if she filled it up with petrol. It was one of the LR assist services.

However, they said the cost of the fuel to sort it out wouldn't be covered by the assist package. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

OK, here's the update.

Garage pumped the tank etc etc and after a little smoking and rattling they left Devon towing 2 tonnes of RIB in a happy Puma, though one of the guys has a pretty substantial hangover and a bad case of the runs just to make things worse! Just spoken and they are on the M6 and the only problem is £$%^&@ in rep-mobiles driving like @!^%$ (their words not mine!) Other than that the Landy is pulling like a train at around 70, though the fuel gauge isn't quite so enthusiastic!

So it appears as though the engine is tough enough to take this. Thanks for all the input.
