Sounds like your LR is ISO connectors but the HU specific to the 2012 on wiring that was non ISO.
Your Defender must be just before the change. There are adapters that you can use.  |

Hi,
I thought that the whole point of the ISO was to be able to fit an aftermarket HU? Do you know which adapter lead that I should use as I can't find one. I can find leads that go the other way but not the one that I want. Regards |

Both of the little ones fir into the one larger one. Ive got '96 110 with 2 plugs, and they fitted straight into the cable that came with the alpine (from LRI). So not 2 seperate to go into but 2 into one. Without seeing yours though hard to confirm.

The issue is you have a non ISO HU, that is how I am reading this.
From the info you have given the LR is ISO. So, what is the connectors of the HU? I'm assuming different for you to post here. The issue is going to be as you say the connectors are one way. If you can snap a photo that'd be very helpful. |

Right, two options;
Either snip off the plug on the HU and fit this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/16-Pin-Female-IS...3ccb41c0c9 Which would solve your problem, may seem daunting but if everything is checked and matches it's job done. Just check, check and check again all is correct. Wiring diagrams are readily available online. This method obviously means the plug on there now is obsolete, but for your use I doubt you will ever want or need it. Option two; Buy this: http://www.nexxia.co.uk/product.asp?s=Harn...=PC2-117-4 Which is the proper loom adaptor, plug the HU's connector into the loom adaptor thus leaving your HU's original plug and wiring in-tact. You will then be left with a male plug on the HU side that is ISO and the same on the LR side. Purchase the above female plug and snip off the male end on the newly acquired loom adaptor and then your sorted. Latter option is a bit more complicated but what I would probably do to avoid altering the HU or LR wiring as standard. So from the HU you should have the following plugs: Female HU - male loom connector (loom adaptor) female ISO to LR male ISO plugs. Both the above options will require some hard wiring, it's the only way. |

If you need to ID the HU wires someone on here will like be able to get that info for you.
The wires should be colour coded though anyway. |

If you go for the loom adaptor as it and the LR are ISO and the LR specific plug is factory wired the ISO female plug wiring should just be a simple co our match to the LR's ISO plug wiring.
Just check it though, especially the power feeds and earth etc which is the grey plug on the Landy.

Welcome, just take your time and all should be good.
You could have saved yourself all this though just by going for an aftermarket non LR radio. 
Never mind, it will work out. |
