Defender TD5 Heisitating and loss of power
Hi

I have a Defender 110 TD5 2002 with 160k and a BAS Remap and full width intercooler.

Symptoms are that when I start it sometimes, it seems to be hesitating and down on power for a little while until it suddenly wakes up and goes like it should.

Today I drove it for the first time in a while and while on the way to ride my MTB at Cwmcarn, I decided to give it the full beans on the bypass and it went ok up to 70mph then suddenly Land rover said NO and cut power then and engine light came on.

Pulled over and restarted it, engine light was off, and carried on, loss of power wouldn't go over 50 until a mile later when it woke up and went back to normal!

So thoughts? 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)

The last issue sounds like a too much turbo pressure problem and going into limp mode or an too much airflow through the MAf sensor. But this doesn't explain you 'normal' problems.

So I would check:

Oil in the loom.
Maf sensor.

But probably it is computer time. Shocked Roel

Had this before. Was first time MAF failure. Gary @ alive does uprated ones that are the only ones that lasted on mine.

Does sound like MAF. Readings should show if it is. VDO/OE MAF should do it, some companies sell as uprated

I just had the same with mine, all the symptoms were leaning towards the MAF sensor, but the functioning part of my brain wasn't convinced. Slip a blanking plate in to block the EGR. This will give you an indication if it's MAF or EGR related.
It's cheap too! It wasn't me!
