Spare Wheel Placement - 110 Tipper, thoughts needed.
I’d like to be able to fix my spare wheel in place securely rather than leave it loose in the tub, I could do with some ideas on this please.

I have a 110 tipper and it came without a spare wheel bracket. Does anyone know if the spare wheel fixing kit for a 110 HiCap would work in the location shown on the picture below? (i.e behind the passenger) I’ve never seen a HiCap spare wheel bracket in person, plus I have Mach 5 8x16’s with 285’s on them so it would need to work on that wheel/tyre combo.

Or, is there another fixing kit/bracket type I should be looking at. Thanks

A back door fixing bracket could be bolted to the bulkhead of the tipping body. Or a roof rack, easy enough if you can stand on the tipper body.

Maybe even a standard rear door wheel mount bolted to the front of the tipper would suffice. They are available from members that have had swingaways fitted. Stick up a request on the 'wanted' thread.

A spare wheel is fairly heavy and that section of the tipper front looks fairly light weight in construction, also to keep it in-board would, I think, mean the bracket would be fairly close to the grill section making it more likely to deform tipper front panel. If it was fitted so that the wheel weight was carried by the tipper floor would probably do.
What about 2 roof bars and the spare bolted to them. As has already been mentioned you can easily stand on tipper platform to get it down when needed. Thumbs Up LANDYWATCH

Two reinforcing mounting plates of 3mm stainless would sort out any insecurity on the tipper itself, just sandwich them and bolt the lot together with high density foam or butyl gaskets to prevent dissimilar metal corrosion.

Bear in mind that when the body is tipped, a spare bolted to the front will be hanging from the mounting. Not insurmountable, but worthy of consideration when designing reinforcement for the body. Darren
