I did in their early days and they were fantastic, got great service from Gareth.
I have since heard a couple tales of poor communication, but we have been through a pandemic so might be expected. I have made quite a considerable order with "Defender Upgrades"
When I tried to fit my spare wheel carrier there were some bolts missing. Upon contacting them to explain, I was told that the bolts were 100% in the box even though the sealed box was opened onto the dining table and there were no bolts. Once I had been told numerous times that I had lost the bolts and that he was 100% right, he agreed to send the 4 bolts out. When I experienced a problem with some treadplate, I have been strung along and ignored for months and once again told that I have fitted them incorrectly. Seems like the chap is totally faultless even though the customer should always be right either way. 2009 2.4TDCi XS Utility Wagon. |

No issues with Gareth. Seems genuine enough.
Everything bought from him turns up as promised and on time which is a rarity. However never had any bits missing so can’t say much about aftersales. They are just a box shifter and doubt they make any bits themselves although could be wrong. |

So I have tried in the past to order a few things, as I am not in the uk his website can not cope with that so I have to email him.
Sometimes I got an immediate reply other times was delayed (no issue there) but the first couple of times the order did not proceed. Recently (last couple of weeks) I needed some at present out of stock parts from the dealer (switches) all the larger units could not get any, as LR had none. But Gareth assured me that he was getting some especially made for this issue, and yesterday I did receive my switches as he said. Shipping wize was quicker than another parcel I have coming (by 3 days) but the customs charges were higher on this expedited parcel, that’s no fault of defender upgrades as I’ll never understand why one parcel has admin fee of 20 and another has admin fee of 50, but that I don’t think relevant. Overall pleased, though due to covid there was another item I wanted to slot in on the same order but there was no stock, but that’s like lots of suppliers at present. Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing. 5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details. |

After months of waiting for a problem to be sorted and Defender Upgrades telling me that I'd fitted the part incorrectly, I contacted the manufacturer directly today. They actually apologised on Defender Upgrades behalf, one thing which Gareth never did.
They have resolved the issue in 4 hours. Communication is poor and Gareth clearly thinks the sun shines out of his ass and is never wrong. Being blatantly lied to doesn't sit well with me. AVOID. 2009 2.4TDCi XS Utility Wagon. |

I was sent the wrong fittings with a £150 odd double din kit.
THEY WERE THE ONLY FITTINGS SUPPLIED. 2mm too big..... Screwed them in after stripping the dash ready for the conversion. They popped through the front and looked a right s**t mess. Fobbed off after trying to resolve and nothing ever came of it. What a bloody waste of time and money! If I get round to it I'll sand down, fill the holes and repaint. Will never use them again, he seemed like a right 'ahem' plonka. |
