[Wanted] Opinions on a commercial..
I need more space and was considering a Discovery commercial but the running costs seem to be prohibitive. A Freelander commercial may do the job and was wondering if they have any gremlins apart from depreciation etc...
Is the later more powerful engine fitted to the Freelander as some Discoveries didn't get the upgrade in van trim?
Anyone know of a good one for sale preferably without VAT as I really hate that on a used car?
Thanks!! 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

There are a few on the land rover website. But getting one vat is hard unless it's quite old.

The new discos are doing into the 30mpg now. The freelander can give 40mpg.

I thought long and hard about disco commercial but have gone for usw.

vat isn't the problem people think, a vat qualifying car will be priced (give or take ) 20% cheaper than a non vat car,non vat car's ever so slightly cheaper (but not by 20%) but only because they are harder to sell.
e.g defender for sale £10k + vat,
same defender with no vat, £11900 Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

There is a late disco 2 factory commercial for sale at John Shaw commercials. It is vat free and looks quite tidy from the roadside. I think it's around £5k I think. A long way to travel but thought it may be of interest.

If you have a lookon webuyanyvan.com you can get an idea of what it's worth to the trade,
your spec is currently showing a value of around £7k + Vat.

companys like this are a complete waste of time they offer a good online price to get you hooked, but when you take your car for inspection they knock down price offered on line, they are a bit like wonga loans A RIP OFF i will personaly offer any one who has had a offer from one of these types of companies a price for their defender ,a better price ,after they have been given the inspection price ,IF YOU WANT A QUICK SALE AT BOTTOM DOLLAR PRICE I WILL BEAT ANY BODY ELSE THAT WILL OFFER YOU UNTRUE VALUE

Hi Shazzy, wasn't recommending he sold it via webuyanyvan rather to use it as a base line for comparison.

When I've used them in the past, they've always quoted me more than the main dealers are offering as a trade in and I've then used their valuation as a starting point to go up from.

I might take you up on your offer when I come to trade in my 110 at the end of the year Very Happy

The flip side of this is people who value their motors based on what they are being 'advertised' privately for on ebay even though they never make anywhere near that.

Unbelievable price variations on commercials and trims vary and it is really confusing. Maybe need to travel further afield?? 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..
