Interested in Winch Challenges
Now that my Landy's fixed, I want to venture into some competition. I've currently got a 90 hard top, 2 inch lift kit, roll cage, and a Warn Zeon 6s. Any advice on equipment and or training would be most welcome.

Thanks,

Find some events to go and watch first,,

One at the top of the tree would be this one http://www.thewelshxtrem.co.uk/ California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

Find a local club, go along and watch and/or compete in a few trials events to get an idea of what your vehicle can do without a winch. Then go to some low key "challenge events" and see what format you want to do.

"Challenge" events cover such a large spectrum of disciplines that it's difficult to point at a single event and say "do that one" without knowing what you want to do and what damage you are happy to do to your vehicle and/or wallet. Some of them are not really vehicle challenges they are just winch trials where whoever has the fastest winch wins, the vehicle is just there as a platform for the winch and in your case you'd be taking a knife to a gun fight.

Some challenges are more "intellectual" than that with navigation and special tasks that require you to think about what you are doing and winches may be secondary.

Some challenges require you to drive your vehicle on the road between competition areas so your vehicle has to be road legal.

Some challenges aren't challenges at all, they are simple "point to point" events where everything is against the clock and they are simply called "challenge" because the promoters want to attract more people.

Most challenges are a mix and match of the above and without knowing where your particular preference for "challenge" falls your best bet is to go and watch a few and see what's available before committing your self and your vehicle to one particular type of event and regulations. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/
