Help! anyone out there know anything about digging holes

well trenches actually - for cable ducts
I need to get an idea of costs / metre for digging trenches (c200 mtrs) then making good.
works to be undertaken in an industrial estate on hard standing (concrete not tarmac) so will need to be cut, broken up, dug then back filled and made good.

I've been told £50 by civil engineering company and £250-300 by a quantity surveyor?

sorry not enough detail, we're looking to lay mains cabling.
wireless isn't an option.
need circa 200mtr of 700mm deep and 500mm wide trenching.

Not sure of the way thing are in the UK, but £50/m seems a tad optomistic to cut / dig / fill a trench in hard standing yard,

- yard will need to be road sawed
- most likely one machine will be employed to break concrete
- second machine to dig trench/ refill trench
- truck to shift away concrete debris
- sand / fine agregrate to be laid in trench for ducting
- ducting to be laid
- fish rope to be threaded through ducting
- trench to be refilled, and compacted
- concrete to be poured and screened off

Cant do the sums for you, as I haven't operated in the UK mainland, but
I'd be pricing this job for a crew of 3 men over 3-4 days, depending on ground conditions,
with 2x 12ton machines onsite
trucks on day 2 to shift away spoils
supply and fit of :
15 - 20 m3 of concrete
possibly steel for concrete
2-3 loads of sand / fine agregate
and possibly another 3-4 20 ton loads of 3" down fill, depending on what was taken away
6mm nylon rope 250m , as fish wire in ductpossible manhole at either ends, with covers
oh .... and the all important 4 rolls of electric ducting warning tape

so 200m x £50 would be tight IMHO

so if the civil engineering a willing to take the contract @ £50 / m to complete the above list and possibly a few items I've overlooked.........take their arm off

12 ton?!

No way, thats serious over kill, can easily be done with a 1 ton 360 with a trenching bucket and why the need for two machines?
