Ireland 2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 SW Orkney Grey
ABS
Third day in my new (one year old) 110, driving along at 30mph and this Censored in a postal van shoots out from a side road, I threw everything into the brakes and swerved to avoid him missing me by inches, the Defender did its job exceptionally well in very wet conditions, It stopped way faster than my wife's Land-cruiser would have. The strange thing is that there was no shudder from the ABS which made me double check that I actually had it on the 110, there wasn't any skidding here either.

There were short non pleasantries between myself and van driver but happy to drive away unscathed.

You sure it has ABS Question My 2011 "County" doesn't... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

It stopped so well I presumed it does, there is certainly a fuse for it!

if it's a Puma then the abs light lights up in the dash every time yoy start. It goes out after a few meters after it self diagnosed the system...so if you don't see an ABS light there isn't any on your defender. ABS is also always paired with traction control.
So you have both or you have neither...and the TC also has a light on the dash that lights up when the system activates.
