It's all very well condemning previous government parties I.e. Labour. But frankly none of them are much good.
I believe Labour handled things in-correctly but the Conservatives think they are wading in and being heros. They aren't!
Both parties IMO give help to those that purposefully work the system and get away with it and cut out the genuine people that really need it.
As for this government and caring for their citizens or businesses for that matter.... Well forget it.
If you've got not much well hard luck is their attitude, pushing people to work of which there is very little out there at all especially gore under 25's / over 55's I'd say.
The few that are relatively well off who used to be their proud supporters for years are now being taxed to the hilt and can't make their bit on the side on investments etc to boot as well.
So the jist is with me I have little time for any of it.
The quicker people as a nation pull together and stop being so selfish, vain and money obsessed then maybe this country may improve.
So how though I feel pessimistic for the foreseeable future.
And as mentioned everything is so "please select from the box below" now which is frankly ridiculous.
And regarding banks, flash thousands of £'s in front of them and they'll be all over you otherwise you aren't any interest. ____\We|Will|Win/___

“have completely missed the fact that it was the investmant banks, rather than the high st. operations”

C’mon, White Van Man doesn’t read further than “my few bob in Northern Rock is at risk; the government must intervene!”. The reality was/is: the man-in-the-street’s money was never at risk, only the shareholders and big players caught a cold, the general public being conned into allowing their big bonuses and profits to continue with taxpayers’ money.

Nice work if you can get it though - bet on a horse with other people’s cash; if it comes first you get to keep most of the winnings, and if it comes last the government will shell out whatever the prize money would have been had it won and you still get to keep most of it.

Well actually the supermarkets have, in the past at least, been subject to Monopolies Commission rules, and yes, they have had to sell off or close stores as a result..... For example when Morrison's bought Safeway's and wanted to move themselves into the big Safeway superstore in Ripon, they were told they had to close their town centre Morrison's store. That town centre store was sold to Sainsbury's as they didn't have a store in he town up to then...Was a massive story locally at the time...

That was under the Monopolies and Mergers Act , they knew that it would happen and were prepared. It was not the leader of political party who stating his party would make them sell off part of the Group if he wins the next general election.

If anything happens in Ripon it is a major story, I once saw a crowd gather in the main car park because a car had a flat tyre. The local paper sent a photographer to take pictures as it had been a slow week. Rolling with laughter Don't make old people mad.

Just listen to Ed Milliband.

Next Labour Government will CREATE two new banks!

Interesting no mention of how? Now for the next Labour government to create two new banks no explanation on how the government is going to do it or even WHO will provide the money to create the two new banks being created by the next Labour government.

Governments only have one real source of money and that is the TAXPAYER as governments have no money of their own!

Did,nt a previous Labour government create a bank in the seventies (or was i dreaming). What happened to that.

I don,t have a "bank" account i bank with a building society as they dont have shareholders to pander to only their customers. 2005 Td5 90 XS

Whilst the Banks are not my favourite organisations, they DO create a lot of wealth for the UK, they pay huge amounts of corporation tax, and also their many employees pay tax on their earnings.

However the Government are constantly fiddling with the Banking industry, to the point where as soon as they think they know what they are doing, the Govt changes their mind again, or amends legislation. The Banks can't keep up.

We need a few years of stability for the Banks to heal, and then make changes. This costant Govt meddling is counter-productive. Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)
