Waeco heated seat kit
Hi there I've fitted the heated seat kit with ease to the actual seats, but now I'm stump as I know not about electrics
So I need help?
Basically I know how to fit switches etc but my problem is I'm left with
One red lead which is as book a direct supply from positive battery terminal ?
One orange lead which is as book connected positive terminal behind the battery ?
One black lead which is earth lead and book says is return line from the battery ?

Now what I thought was do I put a connector end on end of red lead and connect to positive on my battery
But what do I do with the orange lead?
And where best to connect the earth?
The instruction say put earth cable to vehicles earth bolt but where will that be?
I was hoping these three wires can all be connected in battery bay under seat to save routing wires all over the place

Any advice would be great
Cheers paul

I'm not familiar with the Waeco kit but can tell you that an earth connection can be taken from most metal parts that are solidly fixed to the vehicle.

There is a threaded 'bolt' fitted to the floor of the battery box that you can use with a nut.

The red is probably a permanent live (ie straight to battery - but it MUST be fused)

The orange MAY be an ignition live that means the seat heaters only work with the ignition on

Hi thanks for link good little video really helpful,I've had help from Matt (FCX) go beyond who has been a great help,so now I'm pretty confident about wiring them up Thumbs Up

One other thing though on video in seat box there seems to another little device were various wires get wired up to does anyone know what this is,just a thought but is it something to connect to positive on battery for future additions?

Thanks again for the replies, you can rely on getting help on here from everyone
Cheers Paul

I installed this a few weeks back, in the battery box, but I did have to extend some of the wires.

Red is permanent live, orange is switched live. The switched live powers up the relay - ensuring the seats aren't left on whilst the engine is off.

i have these,

red straight to the battery +ve
black to an earth point or bat -ve if thats easier to establish.
orange - switched 12v supply. so to something that come on when the ign is turned on.

you could connect orange straight to the battery +ve too but if you leave the seats on they could flatten the battery Cheers

I don't wish to sound negative or mean, but please pay a qualified auto electrician to wire up the heaters as some of the questions you are asking lead me to think you could either blow your battery up in your own face or cause a fire. Sorry to sound negative but electrics can be dangerous if not properly installed.

To be honest I'm fairly competent at most things so was just asking as if I got a good answer, which I've had many great replies then there isn't any reason why I can't connect three wires up once I know ( which I know now ) were they or were best to connect them,I always find its best to ask, you don't learn if you don't ask is my motto. Plus that's part of the fun with defenders adding bits yourself, don't get me wrong if it was a major job then I would get help Thumbs Up
