I took off the injector clamps and no.1 injector fell apart. Just hope I can find the rest of the washer. Also a new cam for the injector rocker shaft is needed as it has a flat spot. Borrowed a slide hammer and injectors came out real easy.
I have the old black top injectors so a 2nd hand one is ordered. Can you replace all the injectors with the green or blue top?

At least you have found something solid now, just hope it was the problem and not damaged anything else. 2015 RRS Autobiography SDV6

Hi Dave
Yep fingers crossed. Hope to have the parts for the weekend.

There's murmurings of a trip to Drumclog, but the bog must be overflowing.

I must of done something really bad for this to be messing with my karma.

Still not running. Sounds to me like no fuel. This is either caused by air in the system or electrickery.

So far to date:
Cranksensor
Fuel pump
Fuel filter
Air bleed vlave
Injector washers & seals
2nd hand injector (x1) & rocker rail
Injector loom
Rocker seal

These have all been replaced.
Battery charged, several times
Fuel system purged several times
Tow start
Power is to the Ecu
Ecu tested OK by Alive
No faults on nanaocom other than ABS & Aircon
Ecu reads not immobilised.

Still dosen't even try to fire.

My thoughts are change filter head, replace filter gauze at fuel regulator. Remove pipes from fuel regulator to make sure all air is removed.
Electric wise, check voltage at crank sensor replace starter motor. And then it's continuity checks of loom / replace.

Is there anything I'm missing?

Yep injector coded.

I've read that starter motors can give a signal which shuts down the injectors & crank sensor readings. I was hoping that tow starting would elliminate this.

Whilst cranking, nancom reads 0 for rpm. Is this normal or my problem?

Had a similar problem
Even changed starter and battery
Fuel pump etc
Spoke to Porny of this parish
He suggested a starter fault ... Didn't believe him
But decided to bump it lo and behold ran great
Changed the starter good as new
Seemingly there's a signal sent from starter which tells the injectors to open
Worth trying to bump it

I have read about the starter motor and just can't work out why it should shut down the engine. New starter on order anyway, but the bump start didn't work.

Starter motor fitted. Big Cry

Took it for a long tow start. didn't try to fire. Nanocom shows zero RPM. This must be fault if the ecu doesn't think its turning over. I've taken the earths off to give them a clean but I'm now convinced either my new crank sensor is faulty or that when the ecu was tested ok - it wasn't.

When looking at 2nd hand ecu's. What does the code mean? I have a 10p engine with a msb ecu.
Can I fit any ecu and write the alarm and injectors to it?

I am not the most technical but had something similar (and was told very common), took up the driver seat base, tapped the relays (two yellow next to each other, fuel I think) and worked fine ever since.

All ready tried swapping relays over.

Main relay (yellow) Under the seat
Glow plug relay (black) under seat
Fuel pump relay (green) at fuse panel forward of gearstick. Some cars this will be under seat.

Latest update.
I gave the ECU you my mate who also drives a defender of the same age. He plugged it into his car, deactivated the immobiliser (heard relays click etc) his car would turn but not fire. - Same symptoms.
Neither of us have LandRover immobilisers. We didn't do any coding of the ecu. I had been told by a landy garage you can swap ecu from similar type & age of vehicles. No need to code, it would run rough.

Took the lid off my ecu today to see evidence of water and corrosion. Circled is where there is contamination between the chips. Also obvious on some nuts and other components. Maybe electrical cleaner will fix it, maybe it's too late.

With thanks to online bidding site i got myself an identical number'd msb... ecu.
Plug it in and I coded injectors - wouldn't start.
You need to make your ecu learn the 10as landrover security code. You can do this with nanocom.

Once this was done it coughed and weezed before coming into full running order.

Back on the road.

Thankyou to everyone for the help.
A learning curve to which I found some other lurking issues.
